A&J Quality Butchers Ltd is your one-stop traditional butcher’s shop, supplying quality 28-day aged meat at below supermarket prices. Known across the Isle of Man as ‘the well-hung meat people’, the company was established in 2009 by Andrew Gibbs, owner of JAKS Bar and Steak House in Douglas, to supply quality 28-day aged meat for his restaurant because he was not satisfied with the products he could purchase elsewhere. Andrew’s business partner is butcher, John O'Connell.
A&J Quality Butchers Ltd has a butcher’s shop at Cushag Road in Anagh Coar, Douglas, and a dedicated trade warehouse at the Middle River Industrial Estate in Douglas.
The company prides itself on its superior quality of meat and its excellent reputation with its customers. As well as supplying meat and meat products for family requirements, it is also the sole meat supplier to many of the Island’s restaurants and bars.
In addition to quality, 28-day aged meat, poultry, sausages and burgers, the company sells other products including a range of fresh meat pies, marinades and sauces, plus a wide selection of fresh vegetables. It provides barbeque boxes for summer dining and family selection boxes to cover a seven-day period, as well as running a savings scheme for major events such as Easter and Christmas.
Collectively, its expert butchers have more than 220 years worth of experience working in the meat trade and are truly passionate about what they do. They are happy to provide advice on meat selection, accompaniments, recipes and functions, in addition to working with larger corporate clients.
